Always the same and change everywhere

We are close to Christmas and, hence, New Year’s Eve. So far this year was/is a favorable one and the next year is promising in many respects too. (So stay tuned…! 🙂 )

There are also things I missed: to keep in touch with friends and former colleagues who influenced my life just half a year ago. Sorry for that!

Nevertheless, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Windows 7 backup problems

It’s very unfortunate that I produced my first Windows 7 bluescreen by using Windows Backup & Restore utility. What I tried to do is to backup my data to a network location, which was a Samba server hosting some space for that purpose.

The problem is reproduceable and didn’t occure the first time I saved my data, so I decided to switch to my external hard drive to avoid the issue. Unfortunately, the Backup & Restore utility didn’t recognize my storage which needs to be mounted because it’s a Truecrypt encrypted device.

To overcome this issue I created a folder on my external hard drive and shared it as network location. This done it was easy to create a link to this new “network location” and to start a new attempt. It worked the first time and I’m curious to see if it’ll work in the future too.

Wir sollten nicht auf Anrufe des einen antworten und auf die Rettung durch den anderen warten.  Leuchtende rote Lampen sollten uns nicht zum Winken animieren, denn wir seien ja nicht im Musikantenstadl.

Unseriöser Studiengang?

Sowas möchte wohl keine Uni über einen ihrer Studiengänge sagen wollen und so wird, so glaubt und hofft man, alles einem kritischen, wissenschaftlich-objektiven Blick unterworfen.

Nun ist Wikipedia nicht gerade die Quelle der Wahl, wenn es um den wissenschaftlich korrekten Nachweis von Fakten geht. In Ermangelung ähnlich praktischer und schnell verfügbarer Referenzen möchte ich aber zuerst damit auf das Thema einleiten.

Und nun kommt es wohl dazu. Eine etwas ausführlichere Schilderung der Beweggründe findet sich hier, samt Video das ich als äußerst sehenswert empfehlen darf.

Hauptsache das macht nicht die Runde! 😉
